We may also supplement the information we collect from you with information received from third parties, including third parties that have placed their own Cookies on your device(s). Please note that because of our use of Cookies, the Services do not support "Do Not Track" requests sent from a browser at this time.
We use the following types of Cookies:
- Essential Cookies. Essential Cookies are required for providing you with features or services that you have requested. For example, certain Cookies enable you to log into secure areas of our Services. Disabling these Cookies may make certain features and services unavailable.

These Cookies help us to personalize our content for you, greet you by name, and remember your preferences (for example, your choice of language or region).
- Performance/Analytical Essential Cookies. Performance/Analytical Cookies allow us to understand how visitors use our Services such as by collecting information about the number of visitors to the Services, what pages visitors view on our Services and how long visitors are viewing pages on the Services. Performance/Analytical Cookies also help us measure the performance of our advertising campaigns in order to help us improve our campaigns and the Services' content for those who engage with our advertising. For example, Google, Inc. ("Google") uses cookies in connection with its Google Analytics services. Google's ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to the Services is subject to the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy. You have the option to opt-out of Google's use of cookies by visiting the Google advertising opt-out page at www.google.com/privacy_ads.html or the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Data Security and Retention
We seek to protect your Personal Data from unauthorized access, use and disclosure using appropriate physical, technical, organizational and administrative security measures. The Services use industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to allow for the encryption of Personal Data you provide to us. We retain Personal Data about you for as long as you have an open account with us or as otherwise necessary to provide you with our Services, however we do not retain Personal Information from children under thirteen (13) longer than is reasonably necessary in order to fulfill the purpose for which it was disclosed. In some cases we retain Personal Data for longer, if doing so is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes or collect fees owed, or is otherwise permitted or required by applicable law, rule or regulation. We may further retain information in an anonymous or aggregated form where that information would not identify you personally.
Data Retention and Deletion Policy
Zigazoo is committed to the principle of data minimization. We retain personal information collected from children only for as long as is reasonably necessary to fulfill the specific purpose(s) for which it was collected. Personal information collected online from a child will not be retained indefinitely once the purpose for collection has ended.
This policy applies to personal information collected from children under 13 (and under 16 where applicable) through the Zigazoo platform, including the mobile app and website. It is incorporated by reference into the Zigazoo Privacy Policy.
1. Data Retention Schedule
The table below defines the retention periods for each category of children's personal information held by Zigazoo.
| Data Category | Purpose(s) of Collection | Business Need for Retention | Retention Period / Deletion Trigger |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account Credentials (Username, password hash, display name) |
Create and maintain the child's account; authenticate access. | Authentication and account security. | Retained while account is Active. Deleted 12 months after account becomes Inactive (see below), unless reactivated. |
| Profile Information (Age/grade, avatar, bio) |
Personalize the experience and age-appropriate content. | Core platform functionality. | Same as Account Credentials. |
| User-Generated Video Content (Videos uploaded or recorded by the child) |
Enable video-sharing and creative expression features; content moderation. | Core feature: video creation and viewing are central to the Zigazoo experience. | Retained until: (1) removed by the user or parent; (2) account deletion. |
| Activity & Engagement Data (Videos viewed, likes, follows, challenge participation) |
Maintain the child's activity history and feed personalization. | Continuity of user experience; content recommendation. | Same as Account Credentials. |
| Parental Contact Information (Parent/guardian email address) |
Provide notice, obtain verifiable parental consent, and send account communications. | Legal compliance (proof of consent); service notifications. | Deleted 12 months after the account becomes Inactive. Deleted within 30 days of a parent revoking consent or requesting deletion. |
| Communications & Customer Support Records (Emails, in-app reports, support tickets) |
Resolve user issues; improve service quality; content moderation records. | Quality assurance, dispute resolution, safety review. | Retained for 12 months from the date of ticket closure, then securely deleted. Note: Where the one-time contact exception applies, the child's email is deleted immediately after the response is sent. |
| Technical Logs & Device Data (IP addresses, device IDs, crash reports, session logs) |
Security monitoring, debugging, fraud prevention, and internal analytics. | Platform security, integrity, and performance optimization. | Retained for 90 days on a rolling basis, then permanently anonymized or deleted. |
| Consent Verification Records (Parental consent records, verification method, timestamp) |
Demonstrate that valid verifiable parental consent was obtained. | Legal defense and regulatory audit trail under COPPA. | Retained for 3 years after the account is closed. |
| Transaction & Subscription Data (Purchase records, subscription status) |
Enable in-app purchases, resolve payment disputes, maintain service continuity. | Payment records and regulatory compliance (financial data belongs to the parent, not the child). | We use a data-decoupling approach: Parent's billing data (Transaction ID, parent email, price, timestamp) is retained for 7 years for tax and regulatory compliance. Child's in-app activity linked to that transaction is deleted in accordance with the rest of this policy. |
2. Definition of "Inactive Account"
An account is considered "Inactive" when there has been no login or meaningful interaction with the app for a continuous period of 5 years. Because Zigazoo is a platform designed for children and teens, we apply a shorter inactivity threshold than typical social platforms to ensure that account management and data retention practices reflect the best interests and privacy of our young users. The 5-year period is intentional — childhood and adolescence are dynamic stages of life, and we want users to have the freedom to step away and return to their accounts at different points in their growing-up journey, whether that's returning to share new milestones, reconnect with their content, or simply pick up where they left off. Content uploaded by users is retained as an active contribution to the Zigazoo community and will be retained until the user or their parent/guardian requests deletion.
3. Persistent Identifiers Collected & Purposes
The following persistent identifiers may be collected from children in connection with their use of Zigazoo, based on the Zigazoo data map:
| Persistent identifier | Specific operations supported |
|---|---|
| IP address | Providing the service, security monitoring, anti-fraud and abuse detection, content moderation and safety enforcement, error logging, business analytics, legal compliance |
| Zigazoo user ID (UID) | Providing the service, authenticating users and maintaining sessions, content moderation and safety enforcement, user support, business analytics |
| Device identifier (device ID) | Providing the service, security, anti-fraud and abuse detection, technical issue resolution, service improvement, business analytics |
| Email address | Account authentication and recovery, user support and service-related communications, security and abuse prevention, legal compliance |
4. Safeguards Against Misuse of Persistent Identifiers
We do not use persistent identifiers, and we contractually restrict our service providers from using them, for any purpose other than supporting the internal operations described above. In particular, we do not use persistent identifiers to contact individual children for marketing purposes, to serve behavioural or targeted advertising, to build or amass a profile of a child, or for any other purpose prohibited under applicable children's privacy laws.
To prevent persistent identifiers from being used for prohibited purposes, we maintain the following measures:
Service provider restrictions
Our service providers (including Firebase and Mixpanel) receive persistent identifiers only to the extent necessary for their specific operational function and are contractually prohibited from using this data for any other purpose, including advertising, profiling, or independent commercialization.
Access controls and audit logs
Access to persistent identifiers within our systems is controlled through Firebase and Mixpanel, which maintain access logs and authentication controls. Our small team shares overlapping roles and all have Firebase access to perform essential functions (account management, user deletion, support), and all access is tracked and auditable.
No targeted contact
We do not use persistent identifiers to contact individual children. Any notifications or communications we send are directed to all users as a cohesive group, not targeted to specific children based on their IP address, device ID, or other persistent identifiers.
Data deletion upon request
When a child's account is deleted—either through a user-initiated deletion request or a parental deletion request received via our support email—all persistent identifiers linked to that account are completely deleted from our systems and our service providers' systems within thirty days. Deletion is handled by our designated support personnel.
No third-party data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share persistent identifiers with third parties outside of the service providers necessary for operating our platform.
5. Deletion Procedures
When a retention period expires or a valid deletion request is received, Zigazoo employs the following measures to ensure secure and complete deletion.
5.1 Active Systems
Data in active databases and file systems is permanently deleted using secure methods (e.g., cryptographic erasure or database overwriting) that render the data unrecoverable. Where there is a legitimate business need to retain aggregated insights, we may anonymize data by stripping all direct and indirect identifiers so that it can no longer be linked to any specific child.
5.2 Backup Systems
Deleted data may temporarily remain in encrypted backup archives due to our backup rotation schedule. We manage this as follows:
- Data in backups is placed beyond use and is not accessible for ordinary business operations.
- All backups are encrypted and subject to strict access controls.
- Backups are overwritten in accordance with our backup rotation schedule ( every 30 days), ensuring final deletion.
5.3 Third-Party Signaling
Upon deletion of children's personal information from our systems, Zigazoo signals its third-party service providers (e.g., analytics partners, moderation services) via API or manual request to delete the associated data from their systems, consistent with our Third-Party Data Security Agreements.
6. Parental Deletion Requests
At any time, a verified parent or guardian may request the deletion of their child's personal information by contacting us at support@zigazoo.com.
- Response Time: Zigazoo will delete the information within 30 business days of receiving and verifying the request.
- Revocation of Consent: If a parent revokes consent, Zigazoo will immediately stop collecting new information from that child and will delete all existing personal information associated with the account.
- Exceptions: Certain information may be retained for a limited period where required by law (e.g., consent verification records, financial transaction records as noted above).
How to submit a deletion request: Email support@zigazoo.com with the subject line "Child Data Deletion Request." Please include the child's username and the email address associated with the parent account so we can verify and process your request promptly.
Personal Data of Children
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") requires that online service providers obtain parental consent before they knowingly collect personally identifiable information online from children who are under thirteen (13). We do not knowingly collect or solicit personally identifiable information from a child under thirteen (13) without obtaining verifiable consent from that child's parent or guardian ("Parental Consent"), except for the limited amount of personally identifiable information we need to collect in order to obtain Parental Consent ("Required Information"). Until we have received Parental Consent, we will only use Required Information for the purpose of obtaining Parental Consent.
We obtain Parental Consent using method(s) that are approved under COPPA. For example, we obtain Parental Consent by asking a child's parent or guardian to take a photo of themselves and upload it on the Services. We may also obtain Parental Consent by requiring a child's parent or guardian to use an online payment system (for example, a credit card or debit card) that notifies the primary account holder of that online payment system each time a separate transaction is made that relates to our Services (an "Online Payment System").
As part of our parental consent and moderation procedures, Zigazoo may collect facial images from users or parents/guardians. These images are used solely to verify identity and ensure the safety of our platform.
- Purpose of Collection and Storage: Facial images are collected during the parental consent flow to verify the identity of the consenting adult and to ensure compliance with child safety laws.
- Retention Period: We store facial images for up to 14 days after submission. This period is necessary to complete the moderation and verification process. After 14 days, all images are permanently deleted from our systems.
- Third-Party Sharing: We share the collected facial images with our moderation provider, Hive, which uses the data solely for identity verification and moderation purposes.
- Third-Party Data Retention and Purpose: Hive stores facial images for up to 14 days to complete the verification process and ensure compliance with our safety standards. Hive does not use this data for any other purpose and deletes the data after 14 days.
- No Use for Facial Recognition: We do not use facial images for facial recognition, profiling, or any other automated analysis beyond the identity verification required for moderation and safety compliance.
- Zigazoo does not retain face data beyond the period required to complete verification, and face data is never used for advertising or personalization.
If you are a child under thirteen (13), please do not attempt to send any personal information about yourself to us before we obtain Parental Consent, except for the Required Information in the context of the Parental Consent process. If you believe that a child under thirteen (13) has provided us with personal information (beyond the Required Information) without our obtaining Parental Consent, please contact us at support@zigazoo.com. We do not condition participation in our Services on disclosure of more Personal Information from a child under thirteen (13) than is reasonably necessary for that participation, and we do not retain Personal Information from children under thirteen (13) longer than is reasonably necessary in order to fulfill the purpose for which it was disclosed.
If you are a parent or guardian of a child under thirteen (13), you have the right to request that we allow you to review, modify or delete your child's personal information, or that we stop further collection of the child's personal information. If you wish to exercise those rights, please contact us at support@zigazoo.com. We will need to verify your identity before we can comply with your request.
To learn more about COPPA, you may consult this simple one-page informational guide from the kidSAFE Seal Program -- www.kidsafeseal.com/knowaboutcoppa.html.
If you use our Zigazoo Classrooms platform, we require that schools or school districts obtain consent from a child's parent, if the child is under the age of thirteen (13) before using the Services. Schools and school districts may obtain this consent in a few different ways, including as part of a school-wide consent program for all third-party technology. If you are a parent, or if you have questions about how your school obtains your consent, please ask your school or school district to understand how they obtain consent. If you believe that a child under thirteen (13) may have provided us with personal information (beyond the Required Information) without the school or school district obtaining your consent, please contact us at support@zigazoo.com. For more information, please see our Terms of Use.
State Law Privacy Rights

Do Not Track
Your browser may offer you a "Do Not Track" option, which allows you to signal to operators of websites and web applications and services that you do not wish such operators to track certain of your online activities over time and across different websites. Our Services do not support DO Not Track requests at this time. To find out more about "Do Not Track," you can visit www.allaboutdnt.com.

Please note that we do not currently sell your Personal Data as sales are defined in Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 603A.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We're constantly trying to improve our Services, so we may need to change this Privacy Policy from time to time as well, but we will alert you to changes by sending you an in app notification. Please note that if you've opted not to receive legal notice emails from us (or you haven't provided us with your email address), those legal notices will still govern your use of the Services, and you are still responsible for reading and understanding them. If you use the Services after any changes to the Privacy Policy have been posted, that means you agree to all of the changes. Use of information we collect is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is collected. If our changes to this Privacy Policy affect the privacy of a child under thirteen (13), for example, if Zigazoo wishes to collect a new category of personal information of a child, Zigazoo will first solicit and obtain verifiable Parental Consent (as defined in this Privacy Policy) before enacting such change.
